Apitherapy is the medical use of bee sting to stimulate acupoints in order to prevent and treat diseases. It involves both physical and chemical stimulations (The bee venom has unique pharmacological effects). The treated areas become red and congested with burning sensation, which suggests its warm moxibustion effects. Therefore, apitherapy is regarded as a comprehensive therapy of acupuncture, medicinal and moxibustion. Apitherapy is effective in treating such diseases as rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, hypoimmunity, allergic rhinitis, hyperosteogeny, ect. When apitherapy is applied, the principle should include increasing the use of more acupoints gradually during a course of treatment. Bee stings are pulled out 15 to 20 minutes after the insertion. Apitherapy is not recommended to apply on patients who are allergic to bee venom.蜂针疗法 蜂针疗法是利用蜜蜂螫器官为针具不刺激穴位防治疾病的方法。蜂针治疗既有物理刺激，又有化学刺激（通过蜜蜂尾刺自动注入的蜂针液，具有独特的药理作用）。治疗后局部发红充血有灼热感，故兼具有温灸效应。可见它是针、药、灸相互结合的复合型刺灸法。 蜂针疗法对风湿病、类风湿关节炎、免疫力低下、过敏性鼻炎、骨质增生等等疾病有一定疗效。在治疗时应按照先少后多的原则，逐渐加大蜂针的刺激量，一般留置15-20分钟后将蜂针取出。 如患者对蜂毒过敏就避免使用。
